As I sit on my bed listening to the rain fall outside the song, As The Deer Pants For The Water, plays in my head over and over again.
I love listening to the rain and I love this song.
But today this song has a different meaning to it. Today it reminds me of a scripture the Lord brought me this morning.
He maketh my feet like hinds’ feet, and setteth me upon my high places.- Psalm 18:33
I really like the New Living Translation
He makes me as surefooted as a deer, enabling me to stand on mountain heights.
Standing a top of a mountain be a scary thing.
I’ve never stood on top of a mountain but I can imagine it would be hard to keep my footing.
You would need to make sure you have climbing shoes that has a good grip.

But not the deer.
The deer was already equipped to be able to go on mountains because of their strong legs. Their back legs gives them power to run and jump.
A deer’s feet has an outer nail that absorbs shock on every stride they take preventing damage.
Deer’s back leg also provides traction for wet and dry surfaces.
When I think about this bible verse, I thank God for preparing us to stand in a position to have a better vision.
To have strong feet to run and not get weary.
To jump over obstacles.
To have good traction that when we walk with Him, we will not slip or get stuck.
And most importantly, we are protected from every stride of the enemy and the world.
That’s what God has done for you today and every day. He made you surefooted as a deer. You are secure in Him.
No matter what comes your way today, know that God is for you and with you and He will never leave you.
Prayer
Thank you Father, that you have given me sure-footing so I won’t slip and fall. You have placed on high mountains where not only do I have a better view but also are secure in You. You have given the ability to run and to jump over obstacles that may come my way. I am thankful that You are always looking out for me. Help me to trust You more.
In Jesus’ Name
Amen
This is beautiful! 🤍🦋
